birthdays

January seems to be the birthday month in our family not to mention our friends too. This week alone we will be celebrating 3 of them.

Yesterday was my good friends Kristen's birthday( you never tell a woman's age), today would have been Aaron's birthday (he would have been 36) and tomorrow is Chandler's birthday( he will be 9). How we all celebrate our birthdays are very different and special. Normally you would have a big party with cake and ice cream and a whole bunch of your friends, but that is not how it was in Aaron's family from what he had told me. They had a special birthday meal that their mom would make of their choice and then she would make a pie instead of a cake for Aaron because he loved pies. We will be having a pie in honor of Aaron's birthday today and for every year to come.

Dear Christina,
Today will be an emotional day for all of us.(It seems many days are!) You are so right. We did celebrate with a special meal and of course Aaron always wanted pie! What a great idea to celebrate this special day with pie! His life was special and precious. Most importantly, he used it to do exactly what the Lord desires us to do...bring honor and glory to him. I've probably used a third of the box of tissues reading yours and Leah's blogs as well as Mother's comments. It is painful to suffer sorrow, but what a joy to still be able to praise the Lord with our mouths from our hearts. I love reading Psalms 40. It reminds me of Aaron. He always had such joy for the Lord that he had a hard time not sharing it. Now it reminds me of you! Verse 10 says, "I have not hidden thy righteous within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation. I have not concealed thy loving-kindness and thy truth from the great congregation." I know that if Aaron had one wish today, it would be that we would all continue to declare the Lords righteousness and his faithfulness. Thank you Christina, for your faithfulness to the Lord, even in the midst of your storm. Today, as I pray for you and the kids I will also praise Him for Aaron's life and the celebration we will one day enjoy in eternity. "Happy Birthday to my Butch"
Love you all, Amy H.(your other sister!)

Dear Chandler,
Hi "Birthday Boy" ! I hope you have a great day on this your 9th birthday. I see your dads excitement in you. There's always an excitement in your talk and walk. You get so tickled when you do things and that is exactly how your dad was. He had such a love to do new things, couldn't sit still, not much time for TV, always saying "let's go outside and do something". He just couldn't get enough of enjoying things he could do outside. He was so pleased that you helped him dig the ditch at our house for your camper in June. Remember you got ice cream that night for a job well done. So have a great birthday Chandler, Grammy and Pap love you and will be thinking of you all day. xoxoxo (No lipstick)

Dear Chandler,
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Chandler. Happy birthday to you!" WOW! It is so hard to believe you are "9" years old today! What a precious gift the Lord gave your mom and dad the day you were born! Do you know NOW is the best time to serve the Lord. Yes, even at the age of 9! Get your bible and read 2Chronicles 34:1-7. Josiah was 8 when in verse 2 it says,"And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David, his father, and Declined neither to the right hand , nor to the left." And because of his faithfulness to the Lord,(Josiah must have loved the Lord alot!) he began to seek what the Lord wanted him to do! And although it was several years later,(God was preparing Josiah for what He had for him to do!)God used Josiah to clean-up Judah and Jerusalem, not to mention many other cities all around them. All of this was done so that God could use Josiah to rebuild the Temple! What a big job for such a young man!...SO, what is the Lord preparing for you to do? I know he has something special planned for you...his word says so! So start seeking him while your young..."9" IS A GREAT AGE!! Happy, Happy 9th Birthday Chandler. Lots of Love and Hugs and Kisses.
Uncle Steve, Aunt Amy, Zachary, Ryan, Rachel, Jacob and baby too!
